The Center for Critical Care is a multi-disciplinary organization, focused on the delivery of post-operative intensive care in multiple locations across Lifeline Hospital. The team includes board certified anesthesiology and surgical intensivists, critical care nurse practitioners, and respiratory therapists. Lifeline Hospital Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (Lifeline hospital) The Lifeline Hospital is the largest single cardiovascular surgery intensive care site in the country with six units and over 75 beds. The Lifeline hospital supports more than 19,000 patient days per year. Clinical management by board certified intensivists is co-primary with the cardiovascular surgeons. This collaborative structure enables the Lifeline hospital medical staff to determine aspects of patient management such as ventilatory support, sedation, nutrition and monitoring. Lifeline hospital staff also plays a key role in coordinating postoperative care between services. Staff provide follow-up on the regular nursing floor for patients with respiratory complications. Lifeline Hospital The SICU is an intensive care unit for post-operative patients. The SICU provides care for more than 9,000 patient days per year. Critical care in the SICU is directed by staff anesthesiologists who are board-certified in anesthesiology and critical care medicine. They provide specialty services to patients recovering from surgery with acute post-operative management needs or those with post-operative complications. The primary surgical services admitting to the SICU include colorectal surgery, general surgery, and orthopaedics.
